Edwin "Api" Macias, 18, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away in Amarillo on Friday, June 7, 2024. The Christian Burial Mass will be on Thursday, June 13, at 2 p.m. at St. Jose Catholic Church in Hereford, Texas, officiated by celebrant Ramon Molina, burial will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Dimmitt. The arrangements and services have been entrusted to the Colonial Funeral Home in Dimmitt. A private rosary will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday.
Edwin was born on March 16, 2006, in El Paso, Texas, to Lazaro and Adriana (Chuca) Macias. Edwin grew up in Dimmitt, attended Dimmitt schools, and graduated from Dimmitt High School in 2024. Edwin played football, baseball, powerlifting, and participated in FFA, receiving the Texas Cattle Feeder Certification in welding and cattle handling. He liked art and building anything with his talented hands. He made a lot of figurines with foil paper and plain paper, he liked to build bows and arrows, play on the PlayStation, his guitar, and cook. Edwin was very talented and had many wonderful skills, but his favorite love in life was his family, his parents, and his sisters. He was a wonderful son, brother, nephew, and friend to many. Edwin's presence and smile will be missed by all who loved him.
Those who remain to treasure his memories are his parents, Lázaro and Adriana Macías de Dimmitt; her sisters, Ashley Macias, Kaesley Macias, Sarahi Perez-Macias and Lesley Perez-Macias, all from Dimmitt; his maternal grandfather, Fidel Chuca of Fabens, Texas; his paternal grandmother, Rosamaria Anaya of Fabens; his nieces and nephews, Layla, Reign, Kamila, Luna and Zayden; his girlfriend, Xitlalic "Lalis" Gonzalez, of Dimmitt; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
Edwin is preceded in death by his brother, Lázaro Adrián Macías; his maternal grandmother, Benita Quiroz; paternal grandfather, Jesús Macías; paternal great-grandparents, Gabriel Anaya and Manuela Mendíaz; his maternal great-grandmother, Natividad Estrada; and his cousin, Jesús Leonel Macías.
