Sharon Nelson, 79 of China Spring,Texas, passed away on Saturday, June 22, 2024.

Sharon was born on Feb. 4, 1945, the only child of Halsell B. Thomas and Emma Kathlyn Terry. Sharon was living with her mother and grandparents in Pampa Texas while her father was serving in the Army Air Corps in the Philippines.

After the Army her father went to watch repair school in Wichita Falls. He opened Thomas Jewelry in Colorado City, shortly after they moved the business to Sweetwater Texas. Sharon and the family eventually settled in Dimmitt, Texas where she resided for 10 years, graduating from Dimmitt High School in 1963, then going on to attend Texas Tech University.

After college she became a flight attendant for Continental Airlines, at one point owning her own business and eventually went on to spend the remainder of her career in marketing for the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and then The Chickasaw Indian Nation of Tishomingo, Oklahoma.

Sharon met the love of her life Michael in 1992 and they married on June 30, 1993. When asked how they met she would say “In a Bar”, which was the truth. They were on separate dart teams and the matches were always held in Dart Pubs.

Sharon was a great genealogist and traced her roots back to pre-revolutionary war time and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She enjoyed many outdoor activities including fishing, ranching, riding motorcycles and corvettes with her husband Michael.

She is survived by her husband, Michael of 31 years on June 30; one son, John Stephen Mote and wife Amy; three grandchildren, Matthew Stephen Mote, John Benjamin Mote and James Daniel Mote; along with many friends and family who she loved dearly. Sharon was proceeded in death by her parents, and son, Robert Thomas Mote.

She will be deeply missed but never forgotten until we see her again.
