Castro County 4-H Oliver Meador from Nazareth received the Gold Star Award for County at the Annual District 2 Gold Star Banquet. The Gold Star Award is the highest achievement award given by the Texas 4-H Youth Development Program and be awarded once in a member’s 4-H career.
Nazareth FFA Gracie White was named the State Fair of Texas Champion in Veterinary Science. She was the high point individual in the practicum and quiz. Vet science provides challenges in technical competency with small and large animals by completing a written exam, critical-thinking scenario questions, identifications and hands-on practicums.
Two Nazareth graduates will be competing at the national collegiate soil judging contest in the spring as a part of the West Texas A&M University and Texas A&M University judging teams.
