George Edmundo Acevedo, 73, of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, in Amarillo.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. David Contreras and Deacons John Nino and Richard Martinez as celebrants. Cremation services will follow under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Friday, Nov. 8, at 5:30 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home.

George Edmundo Acevedo was born on Nov. 16, 1950, in Mexico to Sebastian Acevedo and Marcelina (Garcia) Acevedo. He moved to Dimmit in 1965 and graduated from Dimmitt High School. He worked for Cargill Corn Mill in Dimmitt for 25 years. George enjoyed watching movies and working on puzzles during his spare time. At a young age he was very artistic and carried that trait through his adult life. George was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and was a faithful servant who prayed the rosary every morning.

George is survived by his two brothers, Luis Acevedo and wife Olga of Dimmitt, and Miguel Angel Acevedo and wife Julie of Ohio.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sebastian and Marcelina Acevedo; two sisters, Teresa Longoria and Minerva Ortiz; and one brother, Guadalupe Acevedo.
