Angela M. Acker, 94 of Nazareth, Texas, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2023, in Dimmitt, Texas. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Monday, June 12, at 11 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, with Celebrant Arokiaraj Samala and Deacons Bob Birkenfeld, Joe Hochstein and Deacon Gerald Marnell officiating. Burial to follow at Holy Family Cemetery. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt, Texas. Rosary will be on Sunday, June 11, at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth.

Angela was born on Aug. 13, 1928, in Waterflow, New Mexico, to Charles Frederick and Lottie B. (Stallings) Wethington. Angela has been a resident of Nazareth, Texas, since 1947. She married Anthony Acker on Feb. 15, 1953, together they had twelve wonderful children. Angela took much pride in raising her children and caring for her husband. At one point in all their lives, she and Anthony had nine children in school at one time. After raising her children,Angela worked for the United States Post Office and the Home Mercantile in Nazareth for a few years. She was a devoted member to the Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth, the Catholic Daughters of the Americas, serving as past local officer and State officer, member of Christian Mothers, past member of Castro County Child Welfare Board, and past member of REC Board. Angela enjoyed reading, playing baseball in her younger days, she played the piano by ear in a band named “Melody6”,shelovedtosingand square dance with her husband, and always had plenty of food for anyone that ever came by for a visit. Angela’s wish was to visit all 51 of the Catholic Church’s in the Panhandle, she visited all but 3 of them. Angela’s greatest joy was her family and time spent with them. Her smile and presence will be missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Katherine Birkenfeld and her husband Julius of Nazareth, Nancy Hardin and her husband Hurchal of Plainview, Kevin Acker and his wife Christine of Nazareth, Dale Acker and his wife Marlene of Nazareth, Joyce Schlabs and her husband Tom of Hereford, Cary Acker and his wife Leona of Nazareth,DeniseMarnellandher husband Gerald of Hereford, Colette Borel and husband Lynn of Wolfforth, Dwight Acker and his wife Felice of Nazareth and Norbert Acker of Nazareth; her sister, Rita Kern of Nazareth, a sister-inlaw, Carol Wethington of Cortez, New Mexico; 32 grandchildren and 46 great grandchildren.

Angela is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Anthony Acker; two sons, Pat, and Hugh Acker; two brothers and five sisters; and son-in-law, Darrell Lynn Buchanan.

The Acker family has requested memorials be made to the Holy Family Cemetery Fund, PO Box 100, Nazareth, Texas 79063.
