Mary L. Birkenfeld, 81 of Nazareth, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 22, 2021 in Nazareth. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, March 25, at 6 p.m. at the church.

Mary L. Birkenfeld was born on Jan. 8, 1940 in Dimmitt, Texas to Joe Lange and Dorothy (Bates) Lange. She married Joe Lynn Birkenfeld on July 15, 1965 in Nazareth. Mary was a lifelong resident of Nazareth and a lifelong member of the Holy Family Catholic Church where she was a member of the Christian Mothers Organization. Mary enjoyed embroidery, sewing and cooking for her family. But most of all she will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who loved her family very much.

Mary is survived by her husband, Joe Lynn Birkenfeld of Nazareth; six children, Anne Acker and husband Dwayne of Nazareth, Robert Birkenfeld of Nazareth, Dale Birkenfeld and wife Rebecca of Turkey, Wayne Birkenfeld and wife Oksana of Nazareth, Joyce Nelson and husband Lynn of Fort Worth, and Dennis Birkenfeld and wife Kayla of Nazareth; two sisters, Veronica Brown and Grace Chism, both of Amarillo; two brothers, Tom Lange of Amarillo and Bill Lange of Gainesville; nine grandchildren, Adam Acker of Amarillo, Jenna Kennedy of Greenwood, Lacey Hittson of Gardendale, Dyllyn Nelson of Lubbock, Brant Nelson and Jaxton Nelson of Fort Worth, Jordan Birkenfeld and Ashlin Birkenfeld of Nazareth, Christopher Birkenfeld of Nazareth, Daniil Sirenko of Midland, Tess Birkenfeld and Denver Birkenfeld; eight great-grandchildren, Cory, Deacon and Audrey Acker of Amarillo, Brooklyn, Shaye and Wade Kennedy of Greenwood, and Charlie and Robbie Hittson of Gardendale; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Mary is preceded in death by a sister, Joan Harbison; brother, Jerry Lange; grandson, Kyler Birkenfeld; and great-grandson, Luke Hittson.
