Connie Farris, 78 of Hart, Texas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2022. Connie was born to Fred Popejoy and Mildred (Jones) Popejoy on November 8, 1944, in Snyder, Texas.

Celebration of Life Services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1, at 10:30 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hart with Dr. Harold E. Meacham officiating. Burial will follow at Hart Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Family visitation will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Connie moved with her family from Snyder to Hart in 1952 when she was in second grade. She graduated from Hart High School in 1963. Connie and Billy Joe Farris were married the following year, on July 10, 1964. They were blessed with two sons, Kirk and Tim. While living in Castro County, Connie worked at Farmers State Bank in Hart and then at the business office of Plains Memorial Hospital in Dimmitt. The family moved to Dalhart in 1971, where they were engaged in farming, and Connie went to work at Citizens State Bank. While raising her family in Dalhart, Connie became involved with the boys in 4-H and was honored with the Silver Spur award in 1983. She made some very special life-long friends while living there. In 1985, they returned to Hart and farming in Castro County. Connie was a past member of the Zealot Club and attended the First Baptist Church. She was also honored by serving as the Parade Marshal of the Hart Days Celebration this past July. Her most coveted title was that of “Grandmother” to her grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. She spent many days and nights attending stock shows and ballgames, rarely missing any events they were involved in.

Connie is survived by her sons, Kirk and his wife Sandy of Nazareth, and Tim and his wife Shelly of Lubbock. She was blessed with eight grandchildren, Zachary Farris and wife Lacey of Nazareth, Maegan Rowland and husband Jordy of Nazareth, Zane Farris and wife Karis of Hart, Trey Farris, Hanna Ferris, Tate Farris, Halle Farris, and Trew Farris all of Lubbock; and11 greatgrandchildren, Copper, Chesney, and Colow Farris, Aubree, Ace, Harper and Tag Rowland, Jett, Kannon, Kree and Kap Farris. She is also survived by three sisters, Kay Nell Bradley of Plainview, Texas, Freddie Sue Myrick and husband J.D. of Hart, and Linda Crownover of Lubbock.

Connie was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Joe; her parents, Fred and Mildred Popejoy; her mother-in-law, Augusta Farris; her father-in-law, Loyd Farris; one sister, Jeannine Bearden and one brother, Randy Popejoy.
