It is with heavy hearts and profound love that we announce the peaceful passing of Gene, who left us on August 30, 2026, at the age of 83. Gene was born on July 16, 1943, in Dimmitt, Texas, and spent his final days surrounded by the warmth and love of his cherished family.
Gene was the beloved son of Dent and Bessie Mae Boothe Bradley, who preceded him in death, along with his older brother, David Bradley. He was also predeceased by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, G.L and Ouida Willis Jr., and brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mike and Jan Baca, sister-in-law, Kay Lynn Rogers, and daughter-in-law, Carla Bradley.
A devoted husband, Gene, shared 59 wonderful years of marriage with his wife, Shari. Together, they farmed, ranched, and raised three children, Tod Bradley and wife Cindy, Zay Bradley and wife Cinnamon, and Mary Crow and husband Toby, all residing in Dimmitt. Gene was a proud grandad to nine grandchildren: Raynee Bradley, Beau Bradley and wife Raven, Taylor Boyer and husband Bryant, Trystan Crow, Kelsea Crow, Creedence Crow, Rhett Bain and wife Kylie, Lexie Gilmour and husband Grant, and Rylee Bain. He also took immense joy in his four great-grandchildren: Carter, Jax, and Bray Bradley, and Bryar Boyer.
A graduate of Dimmitt High School, class of 1962, Gene was a proud Bobcat, having played both football and basketball. He dedicated his life to the land, working as a farmer and rancher in Deaf Smith, Castro, and Swisher Counties. His love for farming, ranching, and horses was evident in everything he did.
Gene was an active member of the First Methodist Church, where he and Shari found a warm community in their Sunday school class. His kindness and generosity were hallmarks of his character, always greeting friends and strangers alike with a smile and a helping hand.
Gene has a passion for roping, spending many late nights under the arena lights, and cherished playing cards with his friends into the early hours. Annual trips to Las Vegas for the NFR with his family and friends were a source of great joy. A particular highlight of Gene’s life was watching his horse’s race, culminating in the proud moment of winning the All-American Futurity last year. Above all, Gene found happiness in watching his grandchildren play sports, show livestock, and compete in the cutting pen. His love for his family was boundless and unwavering.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the special caregivers, Nely Duenes, Cynthia Bermea, Alex Trevino, Lydia Gonzalez, and Elena Duran, along with the staff at Gentiva Hospice, for their compassionate care during Gene’s final days.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, at 10:30AM at the First Methodist Church of Dimmitt with Pastor Steve Friskup and Rev. Eliezer Garrido officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home.
Gene’s legacy of love, kindness, and dedication to family and community will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. He will be remembered fondly and missed dearly.
