Petra Gonzales, 96 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away Sunday, Jan. 10, 2021 in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be Saturday, Jan. 16, at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Reverend Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Niño and Deacon Paul Herrera as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the direction of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Viewing will be Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the funeral home with rosary being recited at 6 p.m. at the church.

Petra was born on Nov. 24, 1924 in Mercedes, Texas to Elpimeno Trevino and Candida Abrego. She married her husband, Pedro Gonzales, on Aug. 27, 1943 in Mercedes. She has been a resident of Dimmitt and member of Immaculate Conception since 1964. Petra was devoted to her faith and always prayed the rosary. She would help anyone in need. She loved listening to all kinds of music and to dance. Petra was also a big fan of the Dallas Cowboys and loved to have family gatherings. She will be greatly missed by many.

Those left to cherish her memories are her children, Gloria Hernandez, Santos Martinez and husband Ruben, all of Dimmitt, Ifrain Gonzales and wife Alice of Canyon, Eloy Gonzales of Houston, and Albert Gonzales and wife Norma of Richmond; 19 grandchildren; 55 greatgrandchildren; and 26 greatgreat-grandchildren; one sister, Herminia Trevino, and one brother, Alex Trevino, both of Richmond.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Pedro Gonzales; her parents; two sons, George Gonzales and Pedro Gonzales Jr.; one sister, Irma Lopez; and two great-great-grandchildren.
