Bobbie Ruth Wooten Hill passed away at her home with loved ones on Aug. 11, 2023.

Graveside Service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 10 a.m., at Hart Cemetery with Rusty Wooten (greatnephew) officiating with funeral arrangements being under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Bobbie was born on Oct. 22, 1933, in Erick, Oklahoma, to Jesse Wooten and Ruby Patterson Wooten. After the family moved to Castro County in 1945, Bobbie completed her schooling in Dimmitt, and upon graduation from Dimmitt High School, she attended Draughon’s Business College and although she didn’t graduate, she did receive an honorary M.R.S. degree from the school when she became engaged to be married!

Bobbie met the young man that would one day become her husband at a social event in Hart when she was in the seventh grade. After dating on and off during their school years, Bob (Bobby Glenn Hill) proposed to her while she was attending Draughon’s, claiming he “chased her until she finally caught him!” The couple married on July 12, 1952, and celebrated 46 years together before Bob passed away in 1998.

Bobbie was a devoted wife and mother, an incredible cook – known far and wide for her chicken fried steak, a talented seamstress – she could make her sewing machine sing in the early days when money was tight, making almost everything she and her children wore, curtains, you name it, and she had a keen eye for home decorating. She was an avid reader, as evidenced by the many books in her home, not to mention those she shared with others! She took care to always look her best and was the embodiment of the term “classy.”

Bobbie learned how to play bridge after she and Bob made Hart their permanent home in 1963, and was a member of the Hart Bridge Club, taking her turn hosting the club for lunch and a day of bridge. That led her to later learn Duplicate Bridge and eventually earning enough points to proudly become a Life Master in 2009.

In the latter years of their marriage, Bob and Bobbie enjoyed traveling in their motorhome, touring America, and trekking with the Vogue Country Club motorhome group. After his death, Bobbie was content to stay a little closer to home, making Ruidoso her getaway destination. She had wonderful neighbors and friends there and was especially delighted when any of the family could spend time with her there. Many precious memories were made on her deck with lively conversations, many games of Yahtzee and Gin Rummy, good food and drink, and restful times of reading and napping!

Never just a fair-weather fan, Bobbie was a devoted follower of the Dallas Cowboys, San Antonio Spurs, Dallas Mavericks, and the Texas Rangers, all whose games she said “sure beat anything else on television!” They no doubt would win more games if they just had her coaching on the sidelines and in the dugout!

Bobbie was very proud of her children, Dennis and Cindy, as they kept the family business interests going after their dad’s death and knew she could always depend on them for anything she needed, but we all know her greatest joy was her ten grandchildren and four great-grandchildren and was thrilled when she was told she had two more greats on the way! She loved sharing in their lives, and looked forward to every visit, every phone call, and getting photos on her cell phone. In her last days, they all spent time visiting with her, and she loved every moment. She left this life knowing well how dearlyshewaslovedbyherfamily, as well as the many friends that she treasured. Words cannot express how much her family and friends will miss their Mom, their Mammer, their big sister and “seester,” their aunt and their dear friend. How very blessed to have spent time on this earth together!

Bobbie is survived by her brother, Rex Wooten of Dimmitt and his wife, Jerrye, her son, Dennis Hill of Hart, her daughter, Cindy Studdard and her husband, Bryan, of Sweetwater, her grandchildren, Clint Hill and his wife, Tiffany, of Alvord, Josh Studdard and wife, Kristen, of Katy, Sarah Studdard and husband, Cade, of Marble Falls, Cameron Studdard and wife, Ellie, of Austin, and Tanner Hill and wife, Brooke, of College Station, her great-grandchildren, Walker Hill, Everly and Colin Studdard and Molly Studdard and beloved nephews and nieces.
