Mary Jeanne was born to William C. (Junior) and Catherine Hochstein on May 23, 1961, in Dimmitt, Texas. She was the middle child of 13 children. She graduated from Nazareth High School in 1979. She enjoyed 4-H where she was actively involved in canning, cooking, and sewing: all skills that she used to do so much for her family. She was a long-time member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. Faith, family, and community were important to her, and she did all things with a servant’s heart.

Mary Jeanne dedicated her entire life to supporting her family in so many ways as “Mom and Dad’s Special Assistant”. She very much enjoyed the company of children and helped raise her younger siblings and cared for her 38 nieces and nephews and numerous great nieces and nephews whenever needed. She loved going to their sporting events and cheering them on as their biggest fan. Her biggest joy came from dancing at all their weddings.

Mary Jeanne took pride in caring for the family pets and helping with all aspects of gardening, from planting, weeding, harvesting, canning, and ultimately helping with the cooking and cleaning. She loved using the golf cart as her favorite mode of transportation to and from the garden and giving the kids a ride. She was also known to manage Grandma’s Cookie Drawer.

Her love was shown by example in so many ways. Her loving heart and caring efforts will be greatly missed. Her love for coloring, word seek, and assembling puzzles grew as she got older. She was known to ask others for help but usually wanted to be independent. She always accepted help from her large lemonade cup to “make a piece fit!”.

Mary Jeanne was preceded in death by her parents, William C. (Junior) and Catherine Hochstein; and her sister, Sharon Brockman. Those left to cherish her memories are her siblings, Debbie (Jerry) Mazura, Larry (Paige) Hochstein, Patti (Dennis) Kern, Carol Kern, Jimmy (Carla) Hochstein, Dianne (Virgil) Huseman, Johnny (Susan) Hochstein, Micky (Meredith) Hochstein, Randy (Marita) Hochstein, Bobbi (Danny) McGregor, Bill Hochstein; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family requests memorials to be made to Nazareth Cemetery Fund or Meals on Wheels at P.O. Box 100, Nazareth, TX 79063.
