Hugh Wayne Acker, 60 of Nazareth, passed away Oct. 29, 2020 in Amarillo. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, Oct. 31, at 2 p.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church in Nazareth with the Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld and Deacon Joe Hochstein as celebrants. Burial will follow at Holy Family Catholic Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 30, at Holy Family Catholic Church.

Hugh was born to Anthony and Angela (Wethington) Acker on January 15, 1960. He graduated from Nazareth High School in 1979. He was a lifelong resident of Nazareth, working for Dale’s Auto and Salvage and later Ag Services in Hereford.

Hugh enjoyed traveling the country with friends and family. He enjoyed an adventure and made many miles picking up farm equipment, but always made sure to stop at a casino or two along the way. He loved to find and collect old coins. He was a lifelong member of Holy Family Catholic Church and also a member of the Catholic Order of Foresters. Hugh will be remembered as a loving son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be truly missed by all who knew him.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Angela Acker of Nazareth; his siblings, Kathy Birkenfeld and husband Julius of Nazareth, Nancy Buchanan of Plainview, Kevin Acker and wife Christine of Nazareth, Dale Acker and wife Marlene of Nazareth, Joyce Schlabs and husband Tom of Hereford, Cary Acker and wife Leona of Nazareth, Denise Marnell and husband Gerald of Hereford, Colette Borel and husband Lynn of Lubbock, Dwight Acker and wife Felice of Nazareth and Norbert Acker of Nazareth; 32 nieces and nephews; and many friends.

Hugh was preceded in death by his father, Anthony Acker; brother, Patrick Acker; and brother-in-law, Lynn Buchanan.
