Jan Willis Baca 1948-2026

Jan Willis Baca of Vega, Texas passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, at the age of 77 years.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 2:30 P.M. at First Methodist Church of Dimmitt, Texas with Rev. T.C. Broom and Rev. Eliezer Garrido officiating, with burial to follow at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 27, 2026, from 5:00 P.M. – 6:00 P.M. at the First Methodist Church.

Jan Willis Baca was born on July 7, 1948, in Amarillo, Texas, to G.L and Ouida (Byrnes) Willis.

Jan attended Texas Tech University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics in May 1970. While attending Texas Tech, she met the love of her life, Mike Baca, and the couple eloped to Juárez, Mexico, where they married on February 10, 1969. This past February 10, 2026, would mark 57 years of marriage for the loving couple. After marthe rying, Mike and Jan returned to Dimmitt, Texas. Jan worked alongside her beloved husband, where they founded the family feedlot and raised two boys. As time passed and the family continued to grow, Jan’s unwavering dedication and attention to detail would result in unmatched commitment and success, playing a vital role in the family business. Her tenacious spirit was broadcast across the entire family and would prove to be a strong foundation that bound everyone together. Jan truly touched the surrounding community, friends, and family with a loving, generous heart. She was always more than willing to host or help whenever needed, another demonstration of her helpful spirit and keen eye.

Jan is survived by her 2 sons, Brant Baca and wife Michelle, and Tye Baca, all of whom reside on the family ranch: 1 sister, Shari Bradley, and husband Gene, of Dimmitt, Texas. Along with 5 grandchildren, Jayton Baca and wife Jacy, Colton Baca and wife Madison, Jake Baca and wife Riley, Lexie Baca (23), and Trenton Baca (20) along with 3 great-grandchildren, Blaire (3), Jade (1), and Chaynie (1), as well as multiple nieces and nephews, and special caretakers to Mike and Jan, Dora and Chilo Rodriguez.

Jan is preceded in death by the love of her life, Mike Baca, as well as her parents, G.L. Willis and Ouida Willis, and her 2 sisters, Kay Lynn Rogers and Mary Sue Willis, and 1 brother, George Max Willis.
