Janet Crawford 1945-2026

Janet Crawford, of Hereford, Texas, passed away on Thursday, August 27, 2026, in Amarillo, at the age of 81.

Janet was born on July 25, 1945, in Haskell, Texas. On May 24, 1963, she married her first boyfriend and high school sweetheart, Eddie Crawford, at the Church of Christ in Morton, Texas. On the very same day they graduated from Morton High School. She continued her education and earned an associates degree in accounting from South Plains College.

Janet managed the books for her husbands trucking business, Crawford Trucking, while taking great pride in her role as a homemaker and mother to Sherri and Julie. She liked cooking, music, and sharing her home with visitors, friends, or anyone who needed a place to go. A proud 'Nana, ' she cherished time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and had a lifelong love for animals, including the many dogs and cats she cared/or over the years.

Janet and Eddie enjoyed traveling. In their younger years, they took road trips on their Harleys; later, they traveled by motor home and loved taking their grandchildren on vacations.

Janet was a member of the Nazarene Family Church and loved attending services there.

She is preceded in death by her parents, and her son-in-law Chad Muse.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 63 years, Eddie Crawford of Hereford; her daughters Sherri Muse of Amarillo, Texas, and Julie Taylor and her husband Mitchel of McLean, Texas; her three grandchildren, Sharla Kile and her husband Brad of Perryton, Texas, Joe McKay of Amarillo, Texas, and James McKay of Amarillo, Texas; her three great grandchildren, Zac, Eli, and Sloan Kile; her sister Donna Kaye Reynolds of Levelland, Texas; her brother- in-law Bruce Crawford and his wife Darlene of Panhandle, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life Service will be on Monday, August 31, 2026, at 11 :00 AM at the Nazarene Family Church in Hereford with Pastor Ted Taylor officiating. Arrangements and Cremation Services have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford.

Viewing and Visitation will be on Sunday, August 30, 2026, from 3:00 - 5:00 PM at the funeral home.
