Joan Rogers Bookout Allsup

Joan Rogers Bookout Allsup of Richmond, Texas, passed away on May 28, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Joan was born on March 30,1942 in Seagraves, Texas to her parents Joe and Faye Rogers. Joan was a devoted member of St. John’s United Methodist Church in Richmond. She was a member of various clubs such as the Legal Assistants Division American Bar association, Westway Home Demonstration Club, Chapter FO PEO, Friends of the library, Hereford Chamber Singers and the Founders Committee King’s Manor Methodist Home.

She was president of the Deaf Smith County Blood Drive and had personally donated several gallons of blood, being a universal donor.

Music was a big part of her life. She was in several ensemble groups in high school and in the choir of every church she was a part of.

She had a beautiful alto voice. Joan always felt great pride and joy when her family was together and sang around a piano.

Joan was a force of faith, grace, resilience, selflessness, and humor. Her ministry of sending birthday, anniversary and all manner of cards blessed many people near and far. Family members and friends still talk about receiving birthday cards from Aunt Joan.

She is preceded in death by her first husband Bill Bookout, her parents Joe and Faye Rogers, her brother Jack Rogers and brother-in-law Jimmy Ivy.

She is survived by her husband Eddie Allsup; daughter Jennifer (J.J.) Roberts and husband Kevin, all of Richmond, Texas; sister Donna Ivy; sister Rose Purcell and husband Ron; brother Joe D. Rogers and wife Cindy; stepsons Roy Allsup wife Amber and Bill Allsup wife Sarah along with numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, June 19, 2026, at St. Johns United Methodist Church, in Richmond.

A reception will follow in the Wendt Hall at St John’s United Methodist Church. Interment will be at Rest Lawn cemetery in Hereford, Texas at a later date.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, 400 Jackson Street, Richmond, TX 77469 or a charity of your choice.
