Emma Jean King, 88 of Littlefield, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2019 in Littlefield. She was born August 31, 1930 in Hart, Texas to James Lester Oler and Ruby (Jobe) Oler.
Emma married the love of her life, Billie Jackson King March 29, 1948 in Sunnyside, Texas. They made a home on a farm near Sunnyside and lived there until 2013 when they moved to Littlefield, minus a few years when they lived in New Mexico during Billie’s job transfer. While living in Hobbs, Emma worked outside the home at Anthony’s Department Store. She was a member of The Order of The Eastern Star, the Republican Chairman of Castro County for many years, was active in the Castro county Fair, and served on the Castro County History Book Committee. She loved living on the farm, and being a wife and mother, but her greatest joy was being a grandmother. Emma was a member of the United Methodist Church in Dimmitt.
She is survived by her two sons, Billie Marshall King and wife Kaye of Littlefield, and James “Jimmy” King and wife Jo Ann of Hobbs, New Mexico; two daughters, Betty Jean Sutton and husband Bobby of Anthony, Texas and Margret Francouer of Grandby, Missouri; nine grandchildren, Billie Lance King Jr., J. Lincoln King, Brandy Gill, Brian Sutton, Brett Bedwell, Shawn Thompson, Stephanie Salinas, Britni Barnett, and Alex Francouer; 13 great grandchildren; and two brothers, Donald Oler and Jay Oler, both of Amarillo. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie King; her parents; four brothers, James L. Oler, Thurman Oler, Dub Oler, and Norman Oler; one sister, Audrey Langston; and a granddaughter, Jennifer K. King.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m., Saturday, July 13, 2019 at Grace Chapel in Hillcrest Funeral Home with Pastor Danny Sanders officiating. Interment will follow in Castro County Memorial Cemetery in Dimmitt. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 -7 p.m., at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the personal care of Hillcrest Funeral Home in Little-field.
