Johnny R. Leal, 67 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Friday, Oct. 8, 2021, in Lavon, Texas. Celebration of Life Service will be held on Thursday, Oct. 14, at 10:30 a.m. in the First Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Israel Olivo officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, Oct. 13 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Johnny R. Leal was born on June 25, 1954, in El Campo, Texas to Walter G. Leal and Eloisa (Rodriguez) Leal. Johnny attended school in Roswell and graduated from Roswell High School. He was a longtime resident of Dimmitt and worked for Cargill for many years. He later became a truck driver in the agriculture industry working for Rick Wright prior to his retirement. Johnny enjoyed riding his motorcycle during his free time along with watching the Washington Redskins and listening to music. But most of all he will be remembered as being a Christian man who loved his family very much.

Johnny is survived by his son, Ruben Leal of Lavon, Texas; sisters, Linda Lopez and husband Francisco of Dimmitt, Paula Garcia and husband George of Odessa, Texas, and Mary Navarro of Dimmitt.

Johnny is preceded in death by his parents; spouse, Tomasa Lea; and two sisters, Anna Valdez and Gloria Garcia.
