Jose G. (Lupe) Murillo, 78 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Saturday, July 9, 2022, in Dimmitt. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 15, at 11 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Nino and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, July 14, at 5:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Jose G. Murillo was born on Dec. 2, 1943, in Mexico to Carmelo Murillo and Josefina (Marquez) Murillo. Jose grew up in Mexico and moved to the United States in 1972 and then to Dimmitt in 1975. On March 11, 1968, He married Margarita (Garcia) Murillo. Jose worked as an electrician working on irrigation pumps for many years before his retirement. He learned from a young age that hard work was a necessity in life and instilled that in his children. He worked hard and always made sure that his family was provided for. Jose thoroughly loved the Fourth of July and was always ready to celebrate in a big way. He also enjoyed working in his yard while gardening and planting. Jose was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Margarita Murillo of Dimmitt; four daughters, Vickie Murillo of Plainview, Alma Murillo of Temple, Hortencia Murillo Nino and husband Bobby of Hereford, and Elva Murillo and husband John of Plainview; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Jose Alfredo Murillo.
