Clara Mary Stengel Reinart, 89 of Hereford, Texas, passed away Wednesday, March 17, 2021 in Dimmitt, Texas. Mass for Christian burial will be Monday, March 22, at 10 a.m. at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church with Celebrants Nick Gerber and Arockiaraj Malapady. Burial will follow at Rest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Hereford. Arrangements have been entrusted to Mendez and Mullins Family Funeral Home of Hereford, Texas. A viewing will be held on Sunday, March 21, from 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home with rosary to begin at 6 p.m. A mask is encouraged for your safety if attending the viewing, rosary, or mass.

Clara was born Feb. 2, 1932 in Pep, Texas to John and Emma Stengel. They moved to Hereford in 1945 to a farm west of Hereford. Clara graduated from Hereford High School. Clara and Leander Reinart were married Jan. 22, 1951 and moved to a farm southeast of Hereford. They raised eight children.

Clara enjoyed gardening, planting flowers, and canning. She was an outstanding cook and made the best fried chicken and chocolate chips cookies. For many years, she volunteered for the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church women’s organization, Hereford Senior Citizens Center, and Thrift Store. She was part of the original gift basket gang for the Senior Center Christmas celebration. She liked to quilt and made quilts for all her children and grandchildren and receiving blankets for grea-grandkids.

Those left to cherish her memories are seven children, Juanita Newsom of Amarillo, Texas, Loraine Anthony and her husband Dennis of Friona, Texas, Leander Reinart Jr. and his wife Reta of Hereford, Texas, Bryan Reinart and his wife Donna of Dimmitt, Texas, Rex Reinart of Hereford, Texas, Alice Peters of Aurora, Illinois, and Elaine Marino and her husband Morrie of Batavia, Illinois; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Clara is preceded in death by her husband Leander Reinart Sr.; son, Tony (Anthony) Reinart; her parents; two sisters, Blanche Marnell and Lucille Thomas; and two brothers, AC “Bud” and Bill Stengel.
