James (J.R.) Rials of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Monday, March 18, 2024, in Dimmitt at the age of 77 years.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Tuesday, March 26, at 10:30 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Dimmitt with Dr. Jonathan Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home.Viewing will be held on Monday, March 25, from 1p.m. to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

J.R. was born on June 29, 1946, in Lubbock, Texas, to H.B. Rials and Leola (Smith) Rials. J.R. attended schools in Dimmitt and graduated from Dimmitt High School and then attended South Plains College. J.R. farmed, was a police officer in Lubbock, and worked at Cargill as a chemist for corn syrup.

J.R. enjoyed fishing, going to garage sales, and hunting for bargains, coffee drinking with good friends and spending time with his family and grandchildren. He was a longtime volunteer for the Dimmitt Fire Department and member of Lee Street Baptist Church.

Those left to cherish his memories are his two daughters, Darla Rosebrook and husband Randall of Mansfield, Texas, and Karen Martin and husband Billy Don of Dimmitt; sister, Pat Evan; sister-inlaw, Nelda Rials; brotherin- law, Daine Gayle;along with five grandchildren, Michael Luse and wife Kyla, Jacob Rials and fiancée, Lisa Tijerina, Chris Martin, Mary Martin and Kailyn Rosebrook.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lynette Rials; brother, Harvey Rials; and brother-inlaw, Ladie Evan.
