Imelda Reyes Saenz, 88 of Dimmitt, Texas, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 2, 2021, in Lubbock. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Dec. 10, at 2 p.m. in the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with the Rev. Arockiaraj Malapady, Deacon John Nino and Deacon Richard Martinez as celebrants. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited on Thursday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. at the church.

Imelda Reyes Saenz was born on March 4, 1933, in Rio Grande City, Texas to Benito Reyes and Martina (Leal) Reyes.

Imelda Reyes Saenz was a very dedicated Christian that would begin her daily blessed life within a scripture of her favorite book, the bible. She was a dedicated member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Imelda enjoyed cooking, playing at casinos, joining family for a game of Bingo and boy did she love to eat! Imelda was an inspirational gem to each and every family member or friend she encountered. She demonstrated integrity at its finest. Imelda was very passionate and loving within her children and family. Her memorable moments were of family celebrations or gatherings. During that time, she emphasized the importance of faith, love, & respect throughout her entire family. A tradition some are sure to follow.

Imelda is survived by nine children, Diana Compean of Lubbock, Texas, Fidela Saenz of Amarillo, Texas, Victor Saenz Jr. and wife Eva of Dimmitt, Rosa Saenz Azua and husband Robert of Dimmitt, Anita Saenz of Dimmitt, Manuel Saenz and wife Elizabeth of Dimmitt, Julian Saenz of Amarillo, Connie Montelongo and husband Anthony of Dimmitt, and Linda Bonilla and husband Rudy of Dimmitt; sister, Elida Gonzalez of Dimmitt; along with 30 grandchildren, 84 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.

Imelda is preceded in death by her husband, Victor Saenz; son, Juan Manuel Saenz; grandson, Antonio Sifuentes; granddaughters, Stacy Saenz and Yvette Ellis; great-granddaughter, Aubrey Saenz; greatgreat granddaughter, Karina Esqueda; along with 11 siblings.
