Francisca (Frances) Avila Sanchez, 80, was called home to our Lord on No. 26, 2020. She was born on July 24, 1940 in Beeville, Texas.

She was raised in Crystal City, Texas where she met and married Margarito Sanchez Sr. on Sept. 10, 1954. They made their home in Dimmitt, Texas where they raised their family. They were married 56 years before her husband's passing in 2010.

Frances enjoyed spending time with all her children. She loved to sew, cook, and decorate her home for each holiday. Like her husband, she enjoyed gardening and was famous for growing the most beautiful rose bushes. Frances was very much involved in her church.

Frances worked as a nurse's aide in Dimmitt for many years then worked in numerous retail stores until her retirement. In her later years, she enjoyed the many wedding and birthday celebrations with her children and grandchildren.

As an empty nester, she enjoyed shopping, crafts, playing bingo, eating out with her daughters, and the company of her dogs. Her greatest joy were the visits from her many grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Felix Avila in 2020; her husband, Margarito Sanchez Sr. in 2010; three daughters, Elsa in 2016, Viola in 2006, Elizabeth in 1962; two sons, Jerry in 2019, Stephen in 1977; grandchildren, Christopher Perez and Tyliss Nieveis both in 2014, Blake Moreno in 2006, and Kristie Renee Perez in 1979.

She is survived by one brother, Genaro Avila of Hondo, Texas; her 12 children, Manuel of Childress, Texas, Connie of Dimmitt, Margarito Jr., Ruben, Hector, Carolina, Abraham, and Jeremy of Lubbock, Texas, Gloria of Raleigh, North Carolina, Esperanza and Maria of San Antonio, Texas, and Elisa of Hart, Texas. She had and loved over 58 grandchildren and over 32 greatgrandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 10, at Resthaven’s Abbey Chapel. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Lubbock.
