Oleda Schumacher, 97, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2021. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 21, in the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit with Monsignor Arturo Mesa officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery in Dimmitt. A rosary will be held from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 20, in the Kornerstone Funeral Directors Chapel. Arrangements are under the care of Kornerstone Funeral Directors of Tulia.

Oleda was born on Aug. 29, 1923, in Nazareth to John and Cecilia Huseman Heiman. She was the 13th child in her family. She married Andy Schumacher on Sept. 16, 1940. She was a farmer’s wife. She raised her family in the country at Nazareth. After raising her family, they moved to Dimmitt in 1963 where she worked for the Castro County News, Parson’s Drug Store and Cobb’s Department Store. She was active in her community, enjoyed playing bridge (that she said she would never do when the kids were growing up). She was known for her baking twisters, homemade bread, and coffee cake. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Holy Spirit.

She is preceded in death by her parents; 12 brothers and sisters; her husband; her daughter, Yvonne Wilcox; her son, Glenn Schumacher; her son-in-law, Corky Rentfro; and her grandson, Sam White.

She is survived by two daughters, Nan Davis and husband Duane of Tulia, and Charlotte Huseman and husband George of Brownwood; one son, Randy Schumacher and wife Debbie of Toronto, Kansas; one son-in-law, Bob Wilcox of Mineral Wells; one daughter-in-law, La Crecia Schumacher of Lubbock; nine grandchildren; several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
