Carolyn Sides, daughter of George A. Bagwell and Ruby Lois (McClung) Bagwell, was born in Dimmitt, Texas on Feb. 29, 1936, and grew up in the Bethel community, and departed this life March 5, 2023, in Dimmitt, at the age of 87 years.

Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, March 11, at 10 a.m. at the First Methodist Church of Dimmitt with the Rev. Eliezer Garrido and Rev. Rusty Dickerson offi ciating. Burial will follow in Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 10, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Carolyn was a lifelong resident of the Bethel Community in Castro County. Carolyn attended the Dimmitt Independent School District from early elementary through high school graduation. She then attended the University of Texas at Austin. Carolyn married George H. Sides on July 14, 1956, at the First Methodist Church in Dimmitt and they farmed in the Bethel community for many years up until their retirement. Carolyn was a stay at home mother who was also very involved in the community serving within many groups including; Meals on Wheels, board member of the Castro County Hospital District, “My Lady Garden Club”, Republican Women’s Group, lifelong member of First Methodist Church where she served as youth leader in the 1960’s along with various committees and boards, Castro County Museum, Bethel Home Demonstration Club, Bethel 4-H, Dimmitt School District and the Dimmitt Band.

Carolyn loved to spend time gardening, sewing, arranging flowers as well as travelling and camping in various places with George, but she will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and G’Ma and friend to many.

The Sides family would like to extend an appreciation to the Country View Living loving staff along with Castro County Hospital District.

Carolyn is survived by her husband, George H. Sides of Dimmitt; children, Gregg Sides and wife Lynn of Dimmitt, Cinde Ebeling and husband Donald of Plainview, and Kim Watson and husband Ed of Aledo; sister, Sue Boozer and husband Monty of Dimmitt; son-in-law, Joe Hill and wife Lisa of Glen Rose; along with 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by a daughter, Laurie Hill; and grandson, Clayton Sides.
