Our precious mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Maxine (Winters) Tidwell, of Frisco, Texas, went home to our Lord on March 11, 2022. She was 93 years young, born on May 1, 1928, in Littlefield, Texas, to Grace (Green) and Pirron Winters. She attended school in Littlefield and graduated in 1945, excelling in math and history. She met the love of her life, Buster Tidwell, at a dance in Pep, Texas. Buster was serving in the Army Air Force at the time and they married in Littlefield on Oct. 5, 1946. They were married for 56 years. They had one daughter, Ronda.

Buster and Maxine moved from Littlefield to Dimmitt, Texas in 1948, farming for several years before starting their crop-dusting business, Tidwell Spraying Service. Maxine also held a private pilot’s license and flew for pleasure.

She was an extremely talented seamstress and a marvelous cook (her brownies and chocolate chip cookies were especially loved), but her passion in life was her family and serving God. She taught Sunday School and bible studies for 60 years, served on countless church committees, organized church youth programs, taught GAs, and worked in Vacation Bible School for many years. Throughout her entire life she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those around her. She loved her family and leaves them with a legacy of love and faith that will endure.

Maxine is survived by her daughter, Ronda Wise of Frisco; her granddaughters, Holly Trigo (Daniel) of Celina, Heather Mayfield (Taylor) of Celina, Hayli Flores (Sammy) of Savannah, and Hanna Hunter (Graham) of Prosper; her great-grandchildren, Lark and Halen Davis, Kennedi and Matthew Trigo, Lily, Harper and Stella Holmes, Crosby and Lola Flores, and Paislei and Everly Hunter; as well as several nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Buster Tidwell; brother, Tommy Winters; sister, Joy Dibert; son-in-law, Gary Wise; and her parents, Grace and Pirron Winters.

Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, March 15, at 2:30 p.m. in Dimmitt at Castro Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Friends are welcome to attend. A celebration of life service will be held in Frisco on Thursday, March 17, at 2 p.m. at Lebanon Baptist Church. The family suggests memorials to Samaritan’s Purse (Operation Christmas Child), or your favorite charity.

The family wishes to thank those whose outpouring of love and kindness during this time of grief has been felt and is cherished.
