Ruby J. Tiffany, 80 of Amarillo, Texas, formerly of Dimmit, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023, at Kirkland Court Health and Rehab in Amarillo. She had been a resident there since December 2022.Amemorial service will be held Saturday, July 8, at 2 p.m. at Griggs-Schooler-GordonFuneral Home, 5400 Bell St. inAmarillo.

Ruby was born on Nov. 11, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma to James Lewis and Nettie Rayfield Herron. She met and married Gene Broadstreet in 1960 and moved to Dimmit in 1962 where they started a family. Ruby made Dimmit her home for 38 years, and she was an active member of the First Assembly of God church. In addition, she dedicated 20 of those years as a school bus driver with Dimmit ISD. She transferred to Dallas ISD to continue her work as a school bus driver for four years before retiring and moving to Amarillo. In 2005, she became a member of the First Family Church and worked as a part-time security guard for Amarillo National Bank. It was during this chapter of her life that was most exciting to her, as she married the love of her life, Bill. Traveling, camping in the fifth wheel, sightseeing, staying active, and spending time with her children and grandchildren were some of the simplest pleasures that Ruby quite enjoyed. One thing that could never be discounted was the deep love and devotion that she had for her family.

One of her favorite pastimes included caring for her mass variety of flowers and plants, both indoor and outdoor. Her favorite color was red, her favorite bird was the red cardinal, and she had a large collection of porcelain dolls that she adored and loved to display. The Dallas Cowboys brought Ruby intense joy during football season, as she loved to watch them play every chance she got. As an active member within her church, she loved to sing with the choir as well as performing solo. Gospel music was her preferred genre, and her favorite hymn was “One Day at a Time.” Every holiday, she would create a themed poster board for the church, showing off her supreme talent with arts and crafts. Whether it be with paint, markers, ribbon, lace, yarn, artificial flowers, or cutouts that she drew herself, her creations were truly works of art. Her God-given talent extended to the decoration of pillows, lamp shades, wall décor, and even clothing. Ruby also loved wearing, and showing off, her pink poodle skirt attire. She would wear it for a parade or just mere fun, and she marveled at all the attention it gained. It made her feel like a kid again.

Ruby married Billy M. “Bill” Tiffany in Amarillo on Sept. 23, 2006. He died on March 13, 2019.

Ruby is survived by two daughters, Valerie (Kevin) Wichmann of Defiance, Ohio, and Elaine Warren of Amarillo; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; three brothers, Bud (Gerty) Herron of Killeen, Texas, Earl (Karen) Herron of Shawnee, Oklahoma, Eueil (Tawana) Herron of Del City, Oklahoma; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sons, Wayne and Mark Broadstreet; a granddaughter; three brothers, Andrew Herron, Loyd and Roy Barnes; and a sister, Edna West.
