Toby Gerber, daughter of Albert Schulte and Anna (Hoffman) Schulte, was born in Hereford, Texas on Jan. 17, 1939, and departed this life Sept. 23, 2022, in Canyon, Texas, at the age of 83 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Sept. 30, at 2 p.m. in the Holy Family Catholic Church with the Rev. Bhaskar Adusupalli, Deacon Bob Birkenfeld, Deacon Joe Hochstein, and Deacon Mark McVay as celebrants. Burial will follow in Holy Family Cemetery under the care of Colonial Funeral Home of Dimmitt. Vigil Service will be held on Thursday, Sept. 29, at 6 p.m. at the church.

Toby was a life-long resident of Nazareth, Texas graduating from Nazareth High School. She married Vincent Gerber on Feb. 4, 1959, in Nazareth. She was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church while serving as a member of the Christian Mother’s Society. Toby worked for the FSA office for over 25 years before her retirement. She was a huge sport fan but was partial to basketball and she was always a big supporter of her grandchildren with their sporting activities.

The Gerber family wishes to recognize the staff from Right at Home in Canyon. Texas for all the love and care that was given to Toby for the last two years.

Toby is survived by her children, Kenny Gerber and wife Doretta of Amarillo, Norman Gerber and wife Stacy of Nazareth, Sharon Hampton and husband Johnny of Canyon, Sid Gerber and wife Eve of Levelland, Leona Wilhelm and husband Eric of Bushland, Greg Gerber and wife Cynthia of Nazareth and Marty Gerber and wife Tisha of Nazareth; two brothers, Floyd Schulte of Nazareth and Ralph Schulte of Roanoke; three sisters, Norita Hoelting of Nazareth, Joanie Durbin of Nazareth, and Carol Hoelting of Westminster, Colorado; along with 22 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

Toby is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Vincent Gerber; and brother, Gilbert Schulte.

The family has requested that memorials be made to: Future of Nazareth Foundation, PO Box 182, Nazareth, TX 79063.
