Trudy Gale Hobbs 1945-2026

Trudy Gale Hobbs, cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend of Hereford, Texas, passed away at the age of 81, Tuesday, May 5, 2026, in Hereford, surrounded by her loving family.

Trudy was born on March 9, 1945, in Welch, West Virginia, the daughter of Frank and Bethal “Profitt” Parker. She moved to Hereford in 1964, where she met the love of her life, Roy Hobbs. The two were married on January 13, 1965, and built a life together filled with love, family, faith, and 61 years of memories. A testimony to their love and dedication to one another, which required patience, compromise, and a lot of biting your lip while reading books or the knowledge to know when to walk away.

Trudy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She spent many years working for Deaf Smith County Community Services, including being a typist and secretary for many city officials such as the judge and senior citizens. While also keeping the books for the Brownlow Brothers. In addition, she was a faithful member of Fellowship of Believers Church in Hereford, served with the Alzheimer’s Association, was a substitute teacher and HISD volunteer, while also a member of Hereford Crime Stoppers.

More than anything, Trudy will be remembered for the way she loved and cared for people. She had a gentle heart, a creative spirit, and hands that were rarely still. She loved crocheting, knitting, making macramé hangers, creating gold leaf paintings, cooking, baking, and camping in the mountains. Later in life, she even found joy in video games, which became another little piece of who she was and something her family will always smile about.

Trudy found her greatest joy in her family. She helped raise her children, cared for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and gave so much of herself to the people she loved. She was kind, steady, helpful, and dependable. As those who knew her would say, “You could always call Trudy.” Whether someone needed advice, comfort, or a helping hand, Trudy was there.

Those left to cherish her memory are her husband of 61 years, Roy Hobbs of Hereford, Texas; her daughter, Deanna Hobbs Donaho of Sachse, Texas; her grandchildren, Brandon Fuqua, Kaleb Fuqua and his wife Crissy, Madason Dvorak and her husband Michael, Brett Donaho, and Lexi Donaho; her great-grandchildren, Abree and Hayden Fuqua; her sister, Sandra Seybold and her husband Frank of Trenton, Nebraska; her nephew, Cecil Seybold; her niece, Sabrina Seybold; and numerous family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her daughter, Leesa Hobbs Fuqua.

Trudy’s love, kindness, and quiet strength will live on in the family she helped build and in every life she touched.
