A Lubbock man was arrested and taken into custody by the Lubbock Police Department following a house fire that left one person critically injured. LPD identified the suspect as Ynez Spencer, 27.

According to the Lubbock Fire Rescue, they arrived in the 10600 block of Elgin Avenue on Monday in response to a report of a fire. The LPD had also been called to the location for a domestic disturbance.

Firefighter officials stated the female victim was located upon arrival, with severe burns on her face and body. Firefighters began to render emergency medical assistance until UMC EMS arrived on the scene and transported the victim to a Lubbock hospital where she remains in serious, but stable condition.

The LPD also responded to the scene and found the victim was involved in a domestic dispute with Spencer, according to reports. During the dispute, Spencer struck the victim several times before “stabbing or slicing her in the upper left leg with an unknown edged weapon,” according to an affidavit, and “poured some sort of flammable substance” on her and the house before igniting a fire and running away. The victim told a neighbor that Spencer did it.

According to reports, Spencer presented himself publicly as an actor. EverythingLubbock. com was able to confirm that he had acted in a local community theater, had appeared in Lubbock-area commercials and made at least one brief appearance in the TV show Chicago PD.

Spencer was charged with aggravated assault and is being held at the Lubbock County Detention center on a bond of $500,000.
