Maui residents begin process of recovery

The recovery process has begun following the Maui, Hawaii wildfires that destroyed Lahaina and killed at least 93 people, with many struggling to find a place to stay. Despite the devastation, Hawaiian officials have stressed the island is not closed to tourists – particularly the eastern side that was unaffected by wildfires, forcing residents to compete with tourists for housing.

Newspapers across the nation are reacting to a police raid on a small-town Kansas newspaper, which is prompting a major First Amendment fight. The Marion County Record was raided by Marion Police Department, which confiscated computers, cell phones and a vast range of other reporting materials.

Traveling by air has become more expensive and a greater challenge these days, from booking a flight and getting to the airport, checking in, boarding the plane, layovers and finally getting luggage on arrival.
