Bobcats v Brownfield

The Dimmitt Bobcats fell to the Brownfield Cubs, 65-49, as they vied to claim the District title on Friday.

The Bobcats took the lead in the first quarter 15-10, but the Cubs offensive came on strong in the second quarter to close the gap and move ahead by two points, 32-30, as the first half came to a close.

Dimmitt offense struggled in the third quarter, while the defense was unable to stop the Cubs from widening their lead, 50 – 36. The fourth quarter sealed the win for Brownfield, 65-49.

The Bobcats field goal average was 37% (19/51) as opposed to Brownfield’s 50% (24/58). Dimmitt was stronger on free throws, coming through with 79% (7/10). The Bobcats collected 25 rebounds, eight assists and 10 steals.

Top shots for the Bobcats were CJ Willey with 21 points, one steal, three offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound and two fouls; Acqtavian Baty with 12 points, one steal, five offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds and five fouls; and Ivan Moreno with 10 points, three assists, two steals, one offensive and defensive rebound, and one foul.

Contributing players were Kobe Carpio with four points, one assist, one offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds and one foul; Gabriel Ontiveros with two points, one assist, three steals, one offensive rebound and four fouls; Daunte Perez with three steals, two offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds and one foul; and Jordan Garcia with two assist and one defensive rebound.

Bobcats v Lamesa

The Dimmitt Bobcats narrowly lost to the Lamesa Golden Tornadoes on Feb. 6, 62-59.

Dimmitt took a 2-point lead in the first quarter, 16-14, but lost ground in the second quarter, giving Lamesa an edge, 27-22, going into halftime.

The Tornadoes offense continue to widen their lead over the Bobcats in the third quarter, 48-27, and thought he Dimmitt offense came on strong in the fourth quarter, they fell to Lamesa 62-59.

Dimmitt hit field goals for 40% (21/52); free throws at 61% (14/23); collected 36 rebounds, 11 assists; one steal and three blocks.

Top shots for the Bobcats were Acqtavian Bay with 21 points, three assists and 18 rebounds; CJ Willey with 11 points; two assists, and seven rebounds; Ivan Moreno with 11 points, seven rebounds and one assist; Jordan Garcia with eight points; Kobe Carpio with four points, two rebounds and three assists; Gabriel Ontiveros with two points and two rebounds; and Anthony Rodriguez with two points.

Bobcats v Friona

The Dimmitt Bobcats walked away with a conference win over the Friona Chieftains, 61-44.

Friona took the lead in the first quarter, 18-13, but the Bobcats offense too over in the second quarter, taking a narrow lead going into halftime, 27-25.

Dimmitt continue outshooting the Chieftains in the third quarter, widening the gap, 47- 35, and secured the victory in the fourth quarter, 61-44.

The Bobcat hit field goals at 47% (24/51); 46% (6/13) free throws; collected 27 rebounds; and had 12 assists, 15 steals and 11 blocks.

Top shots for Dimmitt were Acqtavian Batty with 16 points, six blocks, four offensive rebounds, 10 defensive rebounds, and four fouls; and Ivan Moreno with 16 points, one assist three steals, two blocks, one offensive and defensive rebound, and three fouls.

Contributing players were CJ Wiley with nine points, two blocks, one offensive rebound, four defensive rebounds and one foul; Daunte Perez with nine points, one assist, two steals and one defensive rebound; Anthony Rodriguez with seven points, two steals and one foul; Jordan Garcia with two points, two assists, one steal, one offensive rebound and two defensive rebounds; Kobe Carpio with two points, four assists, one steal, one block, one offensive rebound and two fouls; and Gabriel Ontiveros with four assists, three steals and one defensive rebound.

Bobcats v Denver City

The Dimmitt Bobcats claimed a victory over the Denver City Mustangs, 51-40.

Dimmitt took a strong lead in the first quarter, 17-3, and continued to widen the lead in the second quarter to close out the first half, 29- 11.

The Mustangs offense battled in the third quarter, narrowing the lead slightly , 37-25, and by another single point in the fourth quarter, giving the Bobcats the win, 51-40.

Dimmitt shot for 36% (20/55) field goals; 38% (6/16) free throws; collected 44 rebounds, eight assists and six steals.

Tops shots for the Bobcats were Acqtavian Baty with 21 points and 20 rebounds; 14 points, one assist and eight rebounds; Kobe Carpio with eight points, four assists and four rebounds; Kaeson Melendez with six points; Gabriel Ontiveros with two points, two assists and four rebounds; Daunte Perez with three rebounds; Anthony Rodriguez with three rebounds; and Jordan Garcia with one assist and two rebounds.
