Bobcats Ivan Moreno tipped over the 1,000 point mark at the Area championship game.
The Dimmitt Bobcats beat the Abernathy Antelopes in the Area Championship game, 47-41, and will travel to Frenship to compete in the Regional quarterfinals against Shallowater.
The Bobcats took the lead by a single point in the first quarter, added another point to the lead in the lead in the second quarter and inched up in the third and fourth quarters to take the win and advanced the team to the Regional quarterfinals.
The team shot for 17 of 42 field goals with two of 17 three-pointers, sank 11 of 13 free throws, collected 22 rebounds, eight assists, nine steals, two blocks and 11 fouls. They had 12 turnovers.
Bobcats top shots were CJ Willey with 17 points, one offensive and defensive rebound, two steals and four fouls; and David Fuents, 13 points, three offensive rebounds, four offensive rebounds, three assists, four steals, one block and two fouls.
Contributing shooters were Ivan Moreno, six points, two offensive and defensive rebounds, one assist, one block and two fouls. Moreno also tipped over the 1000-point mark on points.
Additionally, Emiliano Peralta shot for five points, two defensive rebounds, three assists, two steals and one foul; Daunte Perez, four points, three offensive and defensive rebounds, one assist, one steal and two fouls; and Devin Enrique, two points. Damian Arriaga had one offensive rebound.
The Bobcats are scheduled to play Shallowater on Feb. 28 at 7:30 p.m. at Frenship High School.
