The Dimmitt Bobcats locked down the district championship, shutting down the Brownfield Cubs, 57-53, on Tuesday night, and sending them into the playoffs with a season record of 18-9, 9-3.

The Bobcats shot for 23/37 (62%) field goals, sinking 4/8 3-pointers and 7/17 free throws. The collected 24 rebounds, 10 assists, eight steals and one block.

Dimmitt took a single-point lead in the first quarter, 17-16, and continued to gain ground in the second quarter, closing the first half out ahead of the Cubs, 36-28.

The Bobcats added another point to their lead in the third quarter, 49-40.

The fourth quarter, the Cubs battled to close the lead, but the Dimmitt squad stayed out front, giving them the victory and district championship, 57- 53

Ṫop shots for the Bobcats were CJ Willey with 13 points, four offensive rebounds, two defensive rebounds, one assist and five fouls; and Ivan Moreno, 11 points, five defensive rebounds, four steals and four fouls.

Contributing shooters were Gabriel Ontiveros with eight points, one offensive rebound, one block and three fouls; Jordan Garcia, eight points, one assist and one steal; Emiliano Peralta, five points four defensive rebounds five assists, two steals and two fouls; Marcelo Lopez, four points, two defensive rebounds, two assists and one steal; Daunte Perez, three points, one offensive and defensive rebound, one assist and two fouls; Luke Settle, three points and one foul; and Ariel Perez, two points, one defensive rebound and two fouls.
