Bobcats defeated by Friona 12-7

The Dimmitt Bobcats fell to the Friona Chieftains, 12-7, finalizing a season of baseball.

The Chieftains scored five runs in the first inning to take strong lead. The Bobcats came in with three runs in the second and third innings, to narrow the score to 5-3.

Friona had a fourth inning, scoring six runs to push their lead to 11-3, adding another run in the fifth. The Bobcats battled in the fifth inning, bringing in four runners.

Despite the loss, Dimmitt Bobcats Varsity did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Friona had 12 hits on the way to victory.

The Bobcats Varsity launched two home runs on the day. Mario Lopez went yard in the third inning. Chatham put one out in the fifth inning.

Dimmitt totaled eight hits in the game. Edwin Macias and Oscar Rodriguez all managed multiple hits. Rodriguez and Macias each managed two hits to lead the Bobcats Dimmitt also tore up the base paths, as two players stole at least two bases. Juan Anima led the way with three.

Dimmitt pitcher Mario Lopez took the loss, with 74 strikes in 111 pitches and four strikeouts in 4.1 innings, giving up 11 hits, 12 runs, two walks and one homerun. Jose Medina hurled for 13 strikes in 29 pitches with one strikeout, surrendering one hit and one walk.
