Bobcats edge out Whitefaces, 49-48

The Dimmitt Bobcats won a nail-biter against the Hereford Whitefaces on Friday, 49-48.

The first quarter, the Whitefaces pulled out ahead, 16-6, but the Bobcats bounced back in the second quarter, with the offense hitting for 23 points and the defense holding Hereford to eight points, to take the lead as the first half ended, 29-24.

Hereford came back into the third quarter to take a narrow two-point lead, 37-35.

The battle was on the fourth, with the Bobcats shooting for 14 points and Hereford scoring 11 points, giving Dimmitt a one-point win, 49-48.

The Bobcats hit 16 of 40 shots (40%), six of 13 3- pointers, 11 of 13 (84%) free throws, collected six offensive rebounds, 27 defensive rebounds; had six assists, two steals, and 16 fouls.

Top shots for Dimmitt were CJ Willey with 24 points, one offensive rebound, six defensive rebounds, one steal and three fouls; and Ivan Moreno, 11 points, one offensive rebound, nine defensive rebounds, two assists and two fouls.

Contributing shooters were Raul Cadera with six points, two offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound, one steal and three fouls; Gabriel Ontiveros, five points, one offensive rebound, five defensive rebounds, one assist and two fouls; and Emiliano Peralta, three points, one offensive and defensive rebound, one assist and one foul.

Daunte Perez came in with two defensive rebounds, one assist and four fouls; Anthony Rodriguez, one defensive rebound and one assist; and Luke Settle, one defensive rebound.
