The Dimmitt Bobcats dropped their season opener against the Memphis Cyclones, 26-8.

Memphis took charge in the first quarter in the first quarter, scoring a touchdown on a 74-yard pass, taking the lead 6-0.

The Bobcats scored a touch down on a 36-yard pass by Daunte Perez to Sabian Martinez and earned the two-point conversion, putting Dimmitt in the lead 8-6.

Neither team scored in the second quarter.

The third quarter the Cyclones scored another touchdown and two conversion points, retaking the lead 14-8. Memphis scored again in the fourth quarter on a two interception runs, to widen their lead and take the win, 26-8.

The Bobcats came in with a total of 176 passing yards, 24 rushing yards, eight first downs, two fumbles and two interceptions. The had eight penalties for 45 yards.

Daunte Perez led in passing with six completions of eight attempts for 98 yards and one touchdown. The rest of the team had 10 completions for 23 attempts. Perez also led in rushing with three attempts for seven yards. Top receiver was Sabian Martinez with one reception for 36 yards and a touchdown.

Damian Arriaga led in tackles with three and four assists. Daunte Perez had one assist; Jose Casas had two assists; and M. Rios had one assist. Jaime Gonzalez had one interception.

The Bobcats will face Olton on Sept. 2 at 7 p.m.
