The Dimmitt Bobcats suffered a narrow loss in a tough game to the Highland Park Hornets, 36-33.

The first quarter, the Bobcats got the action started with a touchdown by Sabian Martinez on a 2-yard run and extra-point kick by Diego Santellano, to take the lead 70.

The Hornets answered with a touchdown run, bringing the score to 7-6 at the end of the first period.

Highland Park scored in the second quarter on a 20yard pass, with a two-point conversion, , followed by another touchdown on a 71yard run, to take the lead 20-7.

Dimmitt came back with a touchdown on a 67-yard run by Sabian Martinez, to narrow the gap to 20-13.

The Hornets scored a 23yard field goal and ended the first half leading, 23-13.

The Bobcats got the third quarter underway with a touchdown on a 19-yard pass from Sabian Martinez, narrowing the score to 23-19. Martinez followed up with another touchdown on a 3yard run, with extra points, to take the lead 27-23.

The Hornets battled back with a touchdown on a 30yard pass, ending the quarter with Highland Park taking a narrow lead, 29-27.

The fourth quarter, Dimmitt scored on a 1-yard run, pushing them ahead 33-29, but Highland Park added another touchdown on a 2-yard pass, with extra points, to take the win 36-33. The Dimmitt squad came in with 57 plays for a total of 296 yards, 110 passing yards and 186 rushing yards, and 17 first downs, one fumble, one interception and 11 penalties for 87 yards.

Leading Bobcats passer was Sabian Martinez with 6of-12 completions for 110 yards, one touchdown and one interception.

Rushing leaders were Sabian Martinez with 22 attempts for 176 yards and three touchdowns; and Gabriel Reyes, four attempts for 21 yards.

Top receivers were Vicente Soto with two receptions for 39 yards; and Alex Aguilar, one reception, 14 yards.

Top tacklers were Gabriel Reyes with six tackles, Vincente Soto, six tackles; Alex Aguilar, four tackles; Will Van Zee, four tackles, four assists and one sack; Randy Gomez, one tackle and one assist; and Thad Snitker, one tackle.

Damian Arriaga came in with one interception; Deigo Santellano, four kickoffs for 174 yards; and Will Van Zee, four punts for 40 yards.

The Bobcats (0-5) will head into conference play with the upcoming game against Spearman (2-3) on Oct. 7
