The Dimmitt Bobcats fell to the Friona Chieftans in a well-fought battle, 51-44.

The Chieftans took the lead in the first quarter, 20-9, with the Bobcats overtaking Friona in the second quarter and pushing out ahead to close the first half 28-26.

The Chieftans battled in the third quarter to take the lead by a single point, 39--38, and outshot the Bobcats by six points in the fourth quarter to give Friona the win.

The Bobcats hit 11 of 29 2-pointers, five of 27 3-pointers, seven of nine free throws, and had 14 offensive rebounds, 20 defensive rebounds, 12 assists, six deflection, five steals, five blocks, 16 turnovers, 15 fouls and one charge taken.

Top shots for the Bobcats were Tony Salazar with 13 points, two offensive rebounds, three defensive rebounds, one deflection and two fouls; and Enrique Holguin, 11 points, three offensive rebounds, two defensive rebounds, one assist and three fouls.

Contributing shooters were Kaden Carpio, nine points, one offensive rebound, four defensive rebounds, two assists, one deflection, to steals and two fouls;Mario Lopez, six points,four offensive rebounds, one assist, one defl ection, one block and three fouls; and Isaiah Ramirez, five points, four defensive rebounds, one assist, one deflection and two steals.

Daegan Robertson came in with one offensive rebound, two defensive rebounds, one block and two fouls;Jaden Ramirez, one offensive rebound and one foul; and Frankie Cortez, three defensive rebounds, four assists, one deflection, one steal and two fouls.
