Bobcats stomp Demons, 81-48

The Dimmitt Bobcats claimed a big win over the Dumas Demons, 81-48.

The Bobcats took the lead in the first quarter, 25-10, and continued to rack up points in the second quarter, closing the first half ahead 48-22.

Dumas battled in the third quarter, outscoring the Bobcats by three points, leaving Dimmitt in the lead, 63-40.

The fourth quarter, the Bobcat offense attacked the boards pushing their lead and giving them a strong victory 81-47.

The Bobcats hit 32 of 55 shots for 58 percent; seven of seven free throws; collected 35 rebounds; and had 21 assists, 12 steals and five blocks.

Top shots for the Bobcats were Acqtavian Baty with 31 points, one offensive rebound, 10 defensive rebounds, three assists, one steal, four blocks and three fouls; Ivan Moreno with 14 points, five defensive rebounds, three assists, one steal, one block and three fouls; and CJ Willey with 12 points, one offensive rebound, four defensive rebounds, two assists, three steals and four fouls.

Contributing shooters were Gabriel Ontiveros with six points, one defensive rebound, wo assists and five fouls; Daunte Perez with five points, two defensive rebounds, three assists and one foul; Kaeson Melendez with four points, two offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound and one foul; Kobe Carpio with three points, one offensive rebound, three defensive rebounds, seven assists, four steals and one foul; Anthony Rodrigues with three points, one defensive rebound, one assist, two steals and one foul; and Jordan Garcia with three points and one defensive rebound.

The Bobcats will face the Littlefield Wildcats on Jan. 5 at 8 p.m. The JV game begins at 5 p.m. and the 9thgrade team plays at 6:30 p.m.
