In a battle to the final buzzer, the Dimmitt Bobcats lost a heartbreaker by two points to the Denver City Mustangs, 46-44.

The Bobcats took the lead by a single point in the first quarter, 13-12, with the Mustangs overtaking the lead, 23-21, in the second quarter.

Denver City widened their lead in the third quarter, 3828. The Bobcats came on strong in the fourth quarter, but came up short by two points, to give the Mustangs the win.

The Bobcats hit 13 of 27 2-pointers, four of 13 3-pointers, six of 10 free throws, collected six offensive rebounds, 25 defensive rebounds, 13 assists, five deflections, three steals, two blocks, with 17 turnovers, 15 fouls and one charge taken.

Top double-digit shooters for the Bobcats were Frankie Cortez with 13 points, one offensive rebound, seven defensive rebounds, three assists, one deflection, one steal and two fouls; and Enrique Holguin, 10 points, two assists and two fouls.

Contributing shooters were Kaden Carpio, nine points, two offensive and defensive rebounds, two assists, one steal and five fouls; Mario Lopez, nine points, one offensive rebound, five defensive rebounds, two assists, three deflections, one steal, two blocks and four fouls; Keenan Hernandez, two points and one defensive rebound; and Tony Salazar, one point, six defensive rebounds, four assists, one deflection and one foul.

Daegan Robertson had one defensive rebound; and Ga’Quorie Chatham, one defensive rebound and one foul.
