County tracksters medal at state

Castro County athletes from Nazareth and Hart High Schools competed at the Texas UIL State Track and Field 1-A Meet this past weekend and brought home three medals.

Nazareth’s Caroline Myrick, NHS junior, competed in three events and claimed a bronze medal in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.63. The top time came in at 12.24 by Anna Hudson of Miami.

Myrick also placed fourth in the 200-meter dash with 26.49, and an eighth in long jump with 15-11.50.

The Hart girls relay team of Paizlie Reyna-Mata, Mia Minjarez, Elycia Gonzales, Toree Jo Evans continued to burn the track up at the state meet scoring a silver medal in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 50.78; 3. The top time was posted by Cross Plains with 50.63.

The same Hart relay team scored a bronze medal in the 4x200 Meter Relay with a time of 1:47.69. The top team was Ackerly Sands with 1:47.16.
