The Dimmitt Powerlifting teams charged into the season, competing at the Plainview Invitational Meet this past Saturday, and brought home some medals.

The Dimmitt Bobbies, who compete in the Texas High School Womens Powerlifting Association (THSWPA), took top team honors the meet with six DHS athletes bringing home first place medals out of the 47 lifters competing in nine weight class divisions.

Bobbies earning first place medals were Rosalina Compaian, wt. class 105; Nissa Sanchez, wt. class 132; Sandra Vasquez, wt. class 148; Kimberly Solis, wt. class 198; NaKhiyah Porras, wt. class 198; and Allyson Jones, wt. class 259+.

Second place earner was Jimena Fuentes, wt. class 148; and third place, Yadira Esqueda, wt. class 220. Coming in fourth place were Karla Perez, wt. class 132, Shalylagh H. Lugo, wt. class 148, and Victoria Hernandez, wt. class 181. Placing fifth in wt. class 181 was Maria Jaquez.

Currently, veteran lifters NaKhiyah Porras, and Allyson Jones are ranked number one in Region 1, and Kimberly Solis is ranked number 2.

The DHS girls powerlifters are coached this year by Ruby Romero.

Other girls teams included #2 Plainview, #3 Lockney, #4 Ralls, and #5 Floydada.

The Bobcats competed in the Texas High School Powerlifting Association (THSPA) at the Plainview meet and brought home a team fourth place among the eight schools and 87 lifters competing.

Bringing home first place medals were Mickey Rios, wt. class 123; Gabriel Reyes, wt. class 148; and Ga Quorie Chatham, wt. class 242.

Earning third place was Santiago Chavez, wt. class 114; fourth, Victor Escobor, wt. class 198; fifth, Tradien Worsham, wt. class 132, and Deigo Santellano, wt. class 148. Seventh place earners were Lizandro Rocha, wt. class 148, Elian Velo, wt. class 198, and Randy Gomez, wt. class 220.

Other schools competing were #1 Plainview, #2 Lubbock, #3 Ralls, #5 Shallowater, #6 Lockney, #7 Idalou, and #8 Floydada.

Currently, Ga Quorie Chatham is ranked number one in Region 1, and Gabriel Reyes is ranked number two.

The DHS boys powerlifting team is coached by Jose Gonzalez and Johnny Nino.
