Dimmitt Robotics has advanced three teams to the Regional Virtual Meet that will take place in early May.

Team 12398 finished first winning the Inspire award. Team members include Luigi Medrano, Christian Medina, Anthony Lopez and Darrien Barrios.

Team 13755 is advancing after winning third in the Think Award and Motivate Award. They finished sixth overall. Team members include Paulina Bernal, Maria Bernal, Anahi Camperon, Rosalinda Camperon and Jazlyn Rodriguez.

Team 15151 finished eighth overall and were in third for the Connect Award. Team members include Monica Flores, Joshia Tavarez, Samuel Flores, Saul Flores, Javier Mendoza and Carlos Galvan.

Team 15152 earned an Honorable Mention and came in second for the Connect Award. Team members include Faith Bell, Alyssa Martinez, Crystal Barrios, Mario Lopez, Alex Aguliar and Isabel Gonzalez.

Christian Median is a Semi Finalist for the coveted Deans list Award.

“Dimmitt Robotics also received a grant from Xcel Energy in the amount of $2000,” said Garcia. “We are thankful for their contribution to the program.”

Dimmit Robotics has its eye on the Texas UIL State Meet and the Texas Cup, a new competition piece for this year. Both events will take place in June at a live meet in San Antonio at the Alamodome.

Additional activities for the Robotics group includes the fundraiser that held on the square this past weekend where members of the teams sold hot fresh pulled pork sandwich meals and T-shirts.

“Thank you to West Texas Coffee for the hot chocolate,” said Garcia, who said the members appreciated the gesture on the chilly day.
