Dimmitt Bobbies volleyball was able to complete a full 2020 season of games despite the COVID-19 challenges that faced so many schools throughout the district.

Coach Aimee Broom said while the results were not what they wanted, she, the other coaches and teams were “thankful for the opportunity to complete an entire season and compete in volleyball.”

“While the record does not indicate a great season, what these girls fought through as a team and individuals cannot shown in a score.”

Coached by Aimee Broom, the Bobbies Varsity team had a 1-19 record. Manager for the team was senior Maraya Corrales.

The JV Purple squad was coached by Luis Nino and had a 2-19 record. Manager was senior Minnel Leal.

Bobbies JV White was coached by Vicky Ruiz and had a 3-15 record. Managers were seniors Ariana Perez and Arlen Solis.

Leading the varsity in serve percentages was senior Fabiola Perez who came through with 95.4% and junior Marium Monreal coming in with 19 aces. Fabiola Perez also led with 57 kills and 33 blocks. Monreal was also the leader with 93 assists. Senior Natalie Reyes led in digs with 202.

Broom said the appreciation for all the hard work from the teams, including players and managers, cannot be expressed profoundly enough.

“The coaching staff gave their all this season and even went above and beyond with the COVID pandemic and the extra work in preparing the teams and facilities for safety to include the long hours in practice, preparation, bus drives and competition.

“Thank you for a great and complete season to all the teams, managers, table workers, administration, fans, officials and coaching staff.”
