The Dimmitt Middle School 7th grade football team beat the Tulia Hornets by a score of 28-20, behind a great performance by running back Victor Lozano who rushed for 283 yards, scoring three touchdowns and two 2-point conversions.

Romeo Lopez rushed for 83 yards, scoring one touchdown.

Leading DMS tacklers on defense were Victor Lozano with 10 tackles and two fumble recoveries; Joshue Gonzalez with six tackles; Roman Holguin with four tackles; and Romeo Lopez with three tackles and one interception.

The 7th-grade record is 4-1. The DMS 8th grade defeated the Hornets 40-0, playing great on both sides of the ball.

On offensive, Kaden Carpio rushed for 84 yards, scoring two touchdowns, one 2-point conversion, threw for 63 yards, and scored on an 8-yard pass from Jadrian Herrera, Gustavo Lopez rushed for 45 yards, scoring one touchdown; and Aaden Oviedo rushed for 35 yards. Octavio Ornelas had two of four extra points made.

On the defensive side of the ball, Jadrian Herrera had an outstanding performance with four tackles two interceptions with one resulting in a 23-yard touchdown and scored another touchdown on a 29-yard punt return.

The leading tacklers for the 8th grade team were Aaden Oviedo with six tackles and one fumble recovery; Jaime Arzate with four tackles, Axel Constantino with four tackles; and Marco Silva and Baylor Navarro, each with one tackle and one interception. Their season record thus far is 4-1.

DMS vs Childress

The DMS 7th grade football team lost to Childress with a score of 14-28.

On the offensive side of the ball, Romeo Lopez passed for 95 yards and rushed for 12 yards; Victor Lozano rushed for 64 yards scoring, scoring one touchdown, and one 2point conversion; and Hugo Rodriguez had 95 receiving yards, scoring one touchdown.

The leading tacklers on defense were Victor Lozano with six tackles; and Joshue Gonzalez with 5. The team record is 4-2.

The DMS 8th grade team lost to Childress by a score of 46-15.

On the offensive side of the ball, Kaden Carpio passed for 126 yards and rushed for 23 yards, scoring one touchdown, one 2-point conversion, and had one passing touchdown. Octavio Ornelas had 98 receiving yards, scoring 1 touchdown.

The leading tacklers on defense were Isiah Ramirez with six; Gustavo Lopez with five; and Aaden Oviedo and Jaime Arzate, each with three tackles. The team has a record of 4-2.

The DMS teams are set to travel to Canadian for a game on Nov. 3.
