Hart Ladyhorns and Longhorns cross county athletes competed in the UIL 1A Region 1 Championships on Monday at Mae Simmons Park in Lubbock.

Hart was among approximately 15 schools that traveled to Mae Simmons Park for the Regional meet with 125 runners in the 2-mile girls’ race and 118 runners in the 3-mile boys’ race.

Ladyhorns competing were Destinie Perez, senior, who placed 54th; Paizlie Reyna Mata, sophomore, 98th; Amanda Rodriguez, sophomore, 116th; Elycia Gonzales, freshman, 119th; Alyssa Perez, sophomore, 123rd; and Hailey Smotherman, senior, 125th.

Top teams in the girls’ division were Nazareth, Spur, Ackerly Sands, Gail Borden and Springlake-Earth. The Ladyhorns placed 14th as a team.

Representing the Longhorns was Anthony Flores Palacios, freshman, who placed 71st.

The top five teams in the boys’ division were Jayton, Ackerly Sands, Spur, Hedley and Happy.
