Naz, Hart compete in Kress Relays

Nazareth and Hart track and field athletes competed at the Kress High School Relays this past Thursday in a field that included Hale Center, Springlake-Earth, Kress, Hart, Lazbuddie, Lorenzo and Nazareth.

Top runner for the Naz Swiftettes was Caroline Myrick who won first in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash, as well being on the first place 4x400 meter relay team, joining Chloe Birkenfeld, Bliss Betzen and Leslie Gunter for the win. She also tied for first place in the long jump. Zoe Schulte came in with a second place in the triple jump.

The Naz Swifts competed well, staying up in the top three in several events including

Simon Snead, who placed second in the 1600-meter run; and Bryson Brockman, third in the 3200-meter run. The Naz 4x200 meter relay team of Will Young, Tell Bagley, Tanner Birkenfeld and Reid Backus won third; and the 4x400 meter relay team of Luke Schulte, Brett Heitschmidt, Adrian Rios and Bryson Brockman snagged second place.

The Hart Ladyhorns had a strong day at the track meet. The 4x100 meter relay team of Toree Jo Evans, Paizlie Reyna Mata, Mia Minjarez and Elycia Gonzales won first place. The same team won the 2x200 meter relay. The 4x400 meter relay team of Paizlie Reyna Mata, Mia Minjarez, Elycia Gonzales and Alyssa Perez won second.

In other events, Paizlie Reyna Mata tied for first in the long jump; Toree Jo Evans placed second in the 100-meter dash; Alyssa Perez placed third in the 100-meter hurdles; and Mia Lopez placed third in the discus throw.

Top performers for the Longhorns Varsity were Kaleb Chavez with third in the 100-meter dash; and Alton Washington, second in the 400-meter dash.

Longhorns JV athletes staying in the top two placings of their events were Diego Longoria with a second in both the 100-meter dash and 200-meter dash; and Dominic Dominguez who scored a second in both the shot put and discus throw.
