The DHS Bobbies and Bobcats competed at the Friona Powerlifting Championships on Feb. 19.
The Dimmitt Bobcats powerlifters attended the Friona Powerlifting Championships on Feb. 19., competing against 112 lifters and placing sixth as team.
Top lifters for the Bobcats were Gerardo Gonzalez, who placed second in the 220 wt. class, Sabian Martinez, third in the 165 wt. class, Bryan Tarango, fourth in the 132 wt. class, Gabriel Reyes, fourth in the 148 wt. class, and Martin Hernandez, fifth in the 220 wt. class.
Overall team results: 1. Friona, 2. Perryton, 3. Kress, 4. Tulia, 5. Panhandle, 6. Dimmitt, 7. Lockney, 8. Bovina, 9 Muleshoe.
On Feb. 24, the Bobcats at tended the Lubbock Roosevelt Powerlifting meet held at Roosevelt Arena against 104 lifters.
Top DHS lifters were Xayvion Gonzales, second in Wt. Class 123, Gabriel Reyes, first in Wt. Class 148, Sabian Martinez, third in Wt. Class 165, Gerardo Gonzalez, second in Wt. Class 220, Martin Hernandez, first in Wt. Class 242, and Jesus Lopez, third in Wt. Class 242.
The Bobcats placed second as a team.
Overall team results: 1. Dumas, 2. Dimmitt, 3. Lbbk Roosevelt, 4. Levelland, 5. Frenship, 6. New Home, 7. Lbbk Trinity Christian, 8. Brownfield, 9. Ralls, 10. Sudan, 11. Vega.
The Bobcats will be attending the THSPA Regional Championships on March 11-
12 in Sundown. High School.
The Dimmitt and Hart girls powerlifters also attended their final regional qualifying meet in Friona and competed against 69 lifters.
Hart Ladyhorns athlete Johanna Vasquez placed second in Wt. Class 165, with the Hart team coming in sixth overall.
The Bobbies top lifters were Evelyn Salvador who placed first (97), Victoria Hernandez, first (181), Yazmin Barron, first (198), and Na’Khiyah Porras, first (220). Second place winners were Gabby Loeza (181), and Jesimae Gamez (259).

The Bobbies team and HHS Vasquez were headed for regionals this past weekend.
