Swiftettes claim Area title The Nazareth Swiftettes advanced to the Regional quarterfinals after winning the Area championship played at Panhandle on Feb. 17. The Swiftettes beat the White Deer Bucks 86-43.

The Swiftettes forged out ahead in the first quarter, 22-8, and did a near repeat in the second quarter, closing the first half out with w significant lead over White Deer, 45-16.

The Naz offense continued hitting the net while the defense held White Deer to small gains in the third quarter, 65-26. The Swiftettes claimed the victory in the fourth quarter and brought home another Area trophy. The Swiftettes shot for 47%

The Swiftettes shot for 47% (30/64) on field goals; 73% (16/22) free throws; collected 13 assists, seven steals and 29 rebounds.

Swiftettes top shots were Merry Gerber with 17 points, five defensive rebounds and three fouls; Addie Dyer with 14 points, one offensive rebound, five assists and one foul; Emma Kleman with 11 points, six defensive rebounds one assist, three steals and one foul; and Makenzy Corrales with 11 points, two offensive and defensive rebounds, two steals and two fouls.

Contributing players included Presley Wheeler with eight points, three defensive rebounds and one assist; Iris Schilderink with seven points, two defensive rebounds, two steals and one foul; Jaden Pigg with six points, three defensive rebounds, one assist, one steal and three fouls; Harley Gerber with five points, one defensive rebound, two assists and four fouls; Tatum Peterson with four points, two offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound, one steal and one foul; Caroline Myrick with three points; and Kyanne Dunn with one offensive rebound; and Maggie Nelson with one assist and one foul.

The Swiftettes are scheduled to play Wildorado in the Quarterfinals on Friday. The game will be held in Vega.
