Swiftettes crush Lady Tornados, 68-19

The Nazareth Swiftettes captured a big victory over the Texline Lady Tornados, 68-19.

The Swiftettes jumped out front with a big lead in the first quarter, 25-2, and continued to widen the gap in the second quarter, holding Texline to a mere eight points and closing the first half out ahead, 37-8.

Nazareth offense continued to pound the boards in the third quarter, 50-12, and made bigger gains in the fourth quarter to claim a easy win over the Lady Tornadoes, 69-19.

Swiftettes hit 37% from the field (26/70), 22 of 32 threepoint shots for 34%, five of 15 free throws for 33 percent; collected 23 rebounds and 19 assists, and 14 fouls. Texline was in trouble throughout the game with 44 turnovers to Nazareth’s 15

Ṫop shots for the Swiftettes were Merry Gerber with 20 points, four offensive rebounds, one defensive rebound, two assists, one steal and two fouls; and Addie Dyer with 11 points, one offensive rebound, three steals and two fouls.

Contributing players were Emma Kleman with nine points, four offensive rebounds, five assists, four steals and two fouls; Presley Wheeler with seven points, one offensive rebound and one foul; Tatum Peterson with six points, one offensive and defensive rebound, two assists, two steals and one foul; MaKenzy Corrales with five points, one offensive rebound, four assists and two steals; Harley Gerber with five points and two assists; Jaden Pigg with four points, three offensive rebounds, three assists, two steals and two fouls; and Maggie Nelson with one point, four offensive rebounds and one foul.

Swiftettes Iris Schilderink came through with one defensive rebound, one assist, one steal and two fouls; and Kyanne Dunn had one offensive rebound and one foul.

The Swiftettes are on a 12=game winning streak and lead district play undefeated. The two top district teams, according to Maxpreps, are Nazareth, 5-0, followed by the Happy Cowgirls, 4-1. Teams in the district include Nazareth. Happy, Channing, Texline, Hartley, Adrian and Wildorado.

The Swiftettes next game will be against the Channing Lady Eagles.
